Neither you nor the dog have to be registered witih the SDDA to participate in a Designated Odour Test (DOT). DOTs can be observed since the dogs are not competing, and the odour box is moved for each search.

Designated Odour Tests(DOTs) may be taken at any time. The purpose of the DOT is to test if your dog is able to detect the location of the target scents used in competition with its location unknown to the handler and the ability of the handler to correctly call an alert. A formal alert is not required however for a DOT. The test is conducted on leash with no deliberate distractions.

Spectators are Welcome.

Bitches in heat are run at the end of the test.
